What’s involved in becoming a volunteer?
At IYDE we focus on building long lasting and meaningful relationships, so even if you are able to only give a few hours at the time, whatever your skills, we are happy to welcome you to our family. We ask only that you create with us your schedule of participation (2 months at the time) and that you make every possible effort to meet your commitment. You will receive an initial 2 hour training and according to your level of participation you might qualify for other benefits. Please inquire about current volunteering projects.
One time event staff
This opportunity allows you to participate on a one time basis per event in the capacity of set up or clean up staff, registration staff, food server, food preparation, gopher, greeter, etc,) Events range from 2 to 6 hours.
Our retreats are designed for people 14 and older and they last ordinarily 2 to 5 days. As a retreat assistant you will have the opportunity to assist in setting up, cleaning, cooking and kitchen management, setting up activities and moderatinggroup activities. These retreats are overnight, you must provide your own transportation and be able to stay for the length of the event.
Ramadan CEP staff
Our Ramadan CEP last for 28 nights during Ramadan between the Isha prayer and the first 8 rakat of Tara-weh at the local masjid. This is one of the most
amazing and unique opportunities to make a very meaningful impact in the lives of the extended community. You must be willing to commit and work
anywhere between 5 to 20 nights according to your schedule. As a Ramadan CEP staff you will be able to assist with registration and dismissal, craft and prayer, physical activities and song or poetry. The age group that we serve in this program is 5 to 11.
our camps are designed for children ages 6 to 11 or 12 to 17. The camps happen in the summer months or during the winter break and last 1 to 2 weeks. This opportunity allows you to participate every day during a week or two week camp. The camps usually start at 9 am and end at 3pm. As a camp staff you will have the
opportunity to assist with various activities including games and crafts, food preparation, kitchen management, child supervision, drop off and pick up.
CEP on call staff
During the year various organizations and initiatives call us to provide a 1 to 4 hour program for children ages 5 to 11. In the capacity of CEP on call staff you
will have the opportunity to help set up materials and room for the children and to assist in transitions and child supervision as well as in registration and
As an office volunteer you will have the opportunity to commit for any number of days per week, per month to assist with various office tasks from answering phones
to send out mailings, from doing inventory of materials to preparing materials for a program or event. We prefer that you are comfortable using various commonly
used programs in the computer.
